Hi. I’m Orion. I’m a senior, and I think Help Desk is interesting. I personally thought it would be good to be able to help others with their problems, possibly learn a lot more about technology, and so far it seems to be just what I was looking for. Some of the things they go over or help kids in the class are personally quite interesting. Stuff like the Unity engine, or some of the more minute details when it comes to stuff like fixing computers. These skills in particular could even possibly help me work with technology better in the future to an extent that I wouldn’t really understand otherwise. Tech integration has been a helpful class for learning technology in the past.

So far, we’ve looked at a couple things this year.

  1. The ‘Sphero’s.

There were a few of these that we ended up being able to use. They all basically boiled down to small drones that roll around. There was also some programming software that you could use to get them to move in certain ways, and light up. One of the good things about doing this first is that it got me used to messing with these sorts of apps again, and got me used to dealing with odd interfaces. (Which you see a lot of with technology)

  1. The flying drones.

There were a few drones that we got the chance to fly. These also had some simple programming tools to go along with them. It allowed for things like customizing light color, and movement. Pretty similar to the ‘Sphero’s in that regard. There was also a drone that could track hand movements which was pretty interesting to hypothesize about. (With how it worked)

  1. ReadyMaker.

I’ve been in tech integration before, so this was retreading old ground. Just like last year, the task was to make a game of pong. Because I already had, I ended up making doodle jump instead. It’s still in rough development, but I’ve managed to get the physics working. I wouldn’t call readymaker a great tool for game making, and not the best one I’ve seen for starters, either. It’s been a good challenge though, and has had me thinking.

We’ve covered a fair bit of ground for 3 weeks, and from my past experiences in tech integration, I’d bet we’re probably going to keep up this pace for the rest of the year.
